For four years, I have supported progressive change at City Hall: safer streets for all, affordable housing in every neighborhood, action on climate change, and reduction in our worst-in-the-nation racial disparities. And while most Minneapolis voters support these values, change has been fought at City Hall by a politics guided too often by power and not values.
And that is why I’m asking you to join me in supporting Janne Flisrand for City Council in Ward 7.
When people who are trying to make this city better for everyone contact us or come to City Hall, we need leaders, like Janne, who will listen.
Progressives on the City Council need partners who are ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work on the most pressing issues before the City. We need people who look for creative solutions to problems, who have an open mind, and who respect everyone in our community.
We need Janne Flisrand for Ward 7.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Janne for years as a steadfast advocate for safe streets, an affordable housing expert and environmentalist. She tirelessly showed up at community meeting after meeting to get involved. I noted her unique style. She listens and does not scold. She collaborates and does not belittle. She respects people and ideas, not power.
Janne is exactly the kind of leader Ward 7 deserves -- a leader who is excited about the possibilities of the future and the kind of leader who will work to ensure our whole city prospers from change.
As a City Council we need to work together. We work best when conversations are collegial, when expertise is both offered and respected, and when we focus on a vision that puts people first.
I have no doubt that Janne is the right person for this job.
Your vote for Janne is a vote for our shared progressive values. Will you join me in supporting Janne today?
All my best,
